Thanks, Marliah! I have to agree that music can really sets my mood and put my heart in a state where I am focused (or not focused in some cases) on Jesus.

Something that has helped/helps me is Christian music. I have always been big into music. I find music helps me to memorize Scripture, and I often find parts of songs coming to mind when I need them. For instance I wake up in the middle of the night sometimes after a bad dream, or under some mental attack and a song lyric will come to mind and I can just sit there and hum or sing it over and over in my head.

"Your grace is enough"

"hallelujah grace like rain falls down on me"

ect. There were times in the past when I listened to modern secular music and I enjoyed it because it enabled me to hold onto anger and hate. Not that all secular music does that, but what I was choosing to listen to was, there were days I felt called to turn to the Christian radio station, did it resentfully and after a few songs seen a total change in my whole outlook and mood. It has taken quite a long time for me to come to the realization that what I listen to for music really affects me, and only recently decided to be very careful about what I listen to and what I allow my kids to listen to.

I think music is a powerful tool. Sadly modern music seems to be promoting hate and anger in most cases . But there is still good music out there and its very powerful and can really (at least in my own case) help point us back in the right direction.
